Sengkang Riverside Park Singapore Overview
Sengkang Riverside Park is serene due to the Punggol Reservoir, sometimes called Sungei Punggol, passing through it. It is a favorite of nature enthusiasts because it has a built wetland and a diverse population of wildlife.
Sengkang Riverside Park is 21 hectares in size.
Hiking on Sengkang Riverside Park’s several routes allows visitors to see the manually planted wetlands and get up close to the marshland’s wildlife. The artificial wetland serves as both a habitat for wildlife and a haven for a variety of mangrove birds and damselflies. If you are patient and get a little lucky, you can spot birds like the collared kingfisher, purple heron and little tern at Sengkang Riverside Park. It is home to various aquatic plants. Alternately, set out on an informative tour to investigate the fruit trees that have been planted all throughout Sengkang Riverside Park. You might also find rare fruits that are not offered in shops in Singapore, in addition to familiar edible fruits like star fruit, chiku, and dragon fruit.
UB’s Sengkang Floating Wetland, Singapore’s biggest man-made wetland, is situated inside Sengkang Riverside Park and is open to visitors. The Floating Wetland also has interesting structures such as a giant mangosteen shelter.
A cycling bridge was later then built across Sungei Punggol at Sengkang Riverside Park so that the two ends of the park are now connected together.
Sengkang Riverside Park is one of the four parks situated on the Singapore Park Connector Network’s North Eastern Riverine Loop.
Sengkang Riverside Park received the ABC Waters Certification as a superb example of how water resource conservation can be sustainably and artistically incorporated with urban design.
There used to be a Mushroom Cafe selling food at Sengkang Riverside Park, but it has sinced closed down.
There is also a Skool4Kidz childcare centre located within Sengkang Riverside Park. With an architecture and design that is intended to make the building blend into Sengkang Riverside Park, Skool4Kidz childcare centre is one of the coolest looking ones in Singapore!
